Sanitation Facilities in India

We recently approved our first grant applications, to Sanitation First, which provides sustainable sanitation facilities to communities in India. The funding will be used to provide a maternity unit serving 35 remote villages in the Kanchipuram district and a toilet facility for a school near Chennai.

These projects align with several of our funding priorities by providing basic services, embracing sustainable development and, in the case of the school project, promoting education (by raising attendance rates, particular among girls).

Construction work has now started on the maternity unit and we are excited to follow the progress of these projects and see the benefits they will provide to the communities they serve.
