Another inspiring project to share with you all! We are aiding in the funding of a fantastic project to support the Mobilised Communities programme in partnership with World Bicycle Relief. This project aims to address mobility needs in three rural areas of Malawi – Zomba, Lilongwe and Kasungu.
More than one billion people in rural areas amongst low-income nations lack access to reliable roads and affordable transportation. That equates to one out of every eight people in the world and includes 70% of Africa’s rural population.
The project will set out to benefit many people by distributing over 200 rugged Buffalo Bicycles across the rural communities in Malawi named above to both male and females students. This should result in improved attendance, reduced lateness, and a reduced travel time to schools. Alongside this, the households of these students will benefit from improved transportation to goods and services. The holistic mobilised communities model that guides this project will also help families, individuals and entire communities move themselves out of poverty, increase productivity, increase and diversify household incomes and improve education & health outcomes.
We are delighted to be working with World Bicycle Relief, as this project aligns with all four of our core causes! Keep your eyes peeled for further updates regarding this project as it develops. If you would like to know more about the charity, then please click here.
